Our New Trustees
We introduce here the new trustees of St Pauls Centre. They bring a diverse set of skills that will strengthen the board so that the centre may continue to flourish and grow. The new trustees are Karen, Chris and Shelley.
Karen works as Head of Learning and Organisation Development at the Red Cross, which we think brings a wide range of skills to the board. In regard to learning Karen says “I am enjoying working with my fellow directors and learning from them every time we meet”.
Chris works with Damascus Road Technical Services, one of the social enterprises connected to St Pauls Centre, and so has a long-standing relationship with the centre. Chris sees his IT and technical experience providing valuable support to the centre into the future.
Shelley has worked in Customer Service, Complaints and People Management since she left school. As Shelley has spent some time at the centre over the years, she is fond of the place and wanted to help it grow. She says that her skill set in people management will help plan new activities for the future.
Karen has a personal story for helping at the centre which she shared with us:
“Sadly I lost my Mam a couple of years ago and after nearly 60 years of marriage feared for how my Dad would cope without her. Of course, he misses her every single day but the activities, volunteers and other people who attend the centre have been a lifeline for me – he has a place to go where he feels happy and belongs.
“As a trustee I want to be part of enabling this to happen for my Dad and people like him in the community who value coming together to support and find happiness in spending time together.”
All three new trustees emphasized that they hoped their input and collaboration would help the centre support people in the community.
